Assalamualaikum wbt.
and All praises to Allah SWT & His Messenger.
It is the second week of Ramadhan, 'All is well' I expect. If you have watched 3 Idiots, you'll understand the 'All is well' and maybe start to recall all the funny parts in the movie.hehehe...if not, try watching it. It is a nice hindi movie. Main characters; Aamir Khan and my favourite, Kareena Kapoor :)
Yes, in this post I am going to share on the steps and ingredients on making kuih kaswi or some call it kuih koswi or kueh kaswi, the latter is the old malay way of spelling kuih though. Kuih kaswi is the kuih that is usually black in colour and have kelapa all over it. It is similar to kuih lompang. I don't know what is the difference between kaswi and lompang as I see them as two similar kuih in two different shapes. Without wasting any time babbling, let's just start with the steps shall we.
The steps and ingredients will be in mix of Melayu and Inggeris. If you just happen to not understand it, you can ask me, or get a translater :p
Ingredients:
3 tablespoon gula pasir
2 cup tepung gandum
1 cup tepung ubi
2 cup gula merah (gula tebu thai)
5 1/2 cup air
sedikit kapur & garam
Steps:
1. Mix the first three ingredients into a bowl.
2. Mix the gula merah and air in a separate bowl. And stir them well.
3. Then, put 1 and 2 together into a bowl. Add some air kapur and garam. Stir the liquid until all the solvent turns into a solution.

5. Pour the acuan into its container.
6. Heat a pan with some water on the stove to steam the acuan. When the water boils, put the container, cups or bowls of the acuan onto it. Wait for 15-30 minutes. Then take the acuan out.
7. Cool the acuan under room temperature only then, take it out from the container to have a beautiful shape kaswi.
8. Lastly, spread kelapa all over the cooled kaswi. For the kelapa, make sure you add some salt before you spread it on your kaswi to have the best taste :)
Some steps do not have images with them, that, you can use your own imagination...or google or youtube to understand more. Hope the few pictures are helpful. Happy trying!
